Chloe checks her phone for what feels like the fourth time in the past five minutes. Her other hand toys with the handle of the roller suitcase carrying her cosplay things. She's a ball of nervous energy, and if not for the fact that she's surrounded by the hubbub and bustle of the convention, she feels like everyone around would be looking at her just because of how awkward she feels.

She and some of her friends, including her friend's college-age sister - technically their chaperone - had driven three hours across the state to be here. Then, her friends had waved goodbye to her and promised to meet up later for dinner, because they are all covering for what she was here to do, which is to meet Abbey, finally, finally, finally after nearly 3 years of talking online and over a year of dating.

Chloe checks her phone again. There's nothing new from Abbey, who'd said she was finishing checking in like ten minutes ago and then nothing. Ugh, where is she? There can't be that many black-haired girls in braids and Bakugou hats waiting at the elevators on the far side of the lobby, right?

She can't help but imagine all of the fun they'll have this weekend. The cosplay, the con, and, you know. The other stuff.
